New IEC Vibration Testing Standard Highlights the Importance of Reliable Component Testing

Published: October 23, 2026

Vibration testing plays an important role in product development and quality control. It helps engineers understand how electronic components and mechanical parts respond to repeated movement during operation.

On October 8, 2026, the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) published IEC 60068-2-64:2026, an updated international standard covering broadband random vibration testing.

The new edition includes updated reference examples and clearer testing requirements, highlighting the importance of selecting suitable testing methods for different applications.

Why Do Testing Conditions Matter?

Different products experience different types of vibration during use.

Electronic modules, connectors, automotive components and mechanical assemblies may require different testing conditions depending on their design and application.

Before choosing vibration testing equipment, engineers should consider the sample weight, mounting method, vibration characteristics and test duration.

It is also important to understand that random vibration, sinusoidal vibration and reciprocating vibration are different testing methods.

BO-VES3000: Vibration Testing for Small Components

The LVOBO BO-VES3000 Electromagnetic Vibration Test Table is designed for preliminary vibration durability evaluation of small electronic and mechanical components.

It uses electromagnetic excitation to generate high-frequency vertical reciprocating vibration, transferring repeated motion to samples secured on the test platform.

Key features include:

  • Adjustable Amplitude: 0–3 mm, continuously adjustable.

  • Maximum Sample Load: 15 kg.

  • Touchscreen Control: Convenient adjustment of operating parameters.

  • Parameter Memory: Save and recall test settings.

  • Flexible Sample Mounting: Threaded mounting holes support compatible fixtures.

Typical applications include PCB assemblies, connectors, sensors, electronic modules, appliance components and small mechanical parts.

The BO-VES3000 is intended for reciprocating vibration testing. Its current specifications do not establish random vibration testing capabilities or compliance with specific IEC testing procedures.

Choosing the Right Testing Equipment

Effective vibration testing starts with clearly defined test requirements.

Suitable sample mounting, consistent operating settings and careful inspection of test results all contribute to meaningful evaluations.

At LVOBO, we focus on providing practical laboratory equipment for component testing, research and product development.

Understanding the differences between vibration testing methods helps users select equipment that better matches their applications.
